Mulling spices are a fall and winter tradition. Mulled wine, wassail, spiced cider, even spiced beer can be made from this mix. You can steep in a spice ball, cheesecloth or just steep loose and strain through a wire basket, or mesh strainer. Cracking mixture lightly will produce more flavor, but don’t grind to powder. This will produce a result harder to strain and grittier to taste.
