Description

A chipotle is a smoke-dried jalapeno that tends to be brown and shriveled. It is a chili used primarily in Mexican and Mexican-inspired cuisines, such as Mexican-American and Tex-Mex.  Most chipotle chiles are produced in the northern Mexican state of Chihuahua and are known as a morita (Spanish for blackberry or black raspberry; literally “little purple one”).  These peppers are smoky and sweet with tobacco and chocolate tones. They feature a subtle, deep rounded heat with great aroma and flavor.  Use in soups, stews, beans, chilis, or other recipes that like a long simmer. Try crushing and sprinkling on your next pizza or add as a bold twist to corn bread and barbecue recipes.  Any tomato dish or pork dish pairs well with this medium heat pepper too.

After handling the chiles, wash hands thoroughly with soap and warm water.

HEAT: 10,000-50,000 H.U.
